Missed yesterdays effort due finish racing late back on
dock 1800 local, needed to put boat away, shower and eat.
Yesterday's race started well in that going upwind we
were able to stay in front of some boats we had not managed in the Nelson's Cup.
1st bear away mark the asymmetric went up and did well again . When the wind
went further aft we should have taken it down and put up a symmetric spinnaker
with hindsight as the wind strength dropped from 12-13 knots to 8-10. Forecast
was for it to stay up. We lost a couple of places there. Near the of downwind
the wind did come forward and did well again. Once back on the wind we never
managed the speed from beginning of day and lost more ground. Unable to confirm
if something was around the keel. After finishing wee went backwards to see if
things got better as the helm then felt very strange. Not sure what happened
hope all good for Caribbean 600.
Today has been a bit of maintenance, register, put
yellow brick on and some food shopping for the race.
We can now be followed for the next week on yellow brick
if you find Caribbean 600 in the list they are monitoring.
Skippers briefing in an hour then the welcome party,
hope that means free beer.
Tomorrow will get fuel so we have enough to motor back
here if we get a breakage so unable to sail back from the furthest point on the
course about 100 miles,
