As normal time runs out very fast before the start of
big races and rushing to get off the dock and hoping you are as organised as
planned. Very pleasant 10 knots from the east so bit of a fetch at the start,
not long before we could bear away and Code 0 up. Harold was already playing, he
did on the way down to Falmouth. No matter what mode in and performance level
would after about 90 seconds if lucky would lose the plot and keep putting full
rudder on so big S's done going through about 60 degrees. Abit further along the
sea a little bigger and a broach in 10-12 knots. Code 0 furled and dropped jib
back up and true wind angle 140, still Harold would not hold course. Set boat on
steady course closer to the wind with wheel locked so I could go below and put
the Raymarine speedo in and switch on that system and switch to Harold Jnr.
Engaged lovely took some time to build my confidence up befoe big spinnaker
hoisted. Should have done some calibration on this, too late now.
Do now think the is a unserviceable unit the the B&G
system but no idea which one it may be. Will hopefully identify soon with
B&G support.
Probably no cooking this evening as have sandwiches and
lots of chocolate.
Must go and prepare a gybe of the
spinnaker
