Day 2 -St Barts - Gustavia
Nice sunny day in paradise, not even 1 rain shower. Had an unofficial race today in 6-11 knots. Some shifts were 50 degrees. Good start as free line for us and out on port tack (the boats bad one) for most of the way to CoCo Islands rounded to starboard. Back up the course with asymmetric
up, good at the beginning then wind veered and not so good as became a dead run so gybes were required. Panacea X following gain loads at this point because had a symmetrical spinnaker up. Once passed the starting line area wind backed and unable to hold on
to the asym, Panacea X got passed us, she is a 45 foot Salona. In the end we were less than 2 minutes behind at the finish and Emily of Cowes behind us. Tommorrow less wind forecast so am earlier start and finishing at a beach in the marine park to the north. This afternoon joined the others at Shell Beach for a few BYO drinks before we went off for dinner. |
