During the night I was off watch and John on. I got woken by a few books and a small board hitting me. I immediately found headtorch to see what had happened and was trying to get out of my bunk when John called down sprayhood was broken. I sorted out stuff below and then put jacket on to review what happened. The lower edge of cover runs around a strip that it had pulled out of. By time out of hatch John had completed a good part of the repair with strip back in rail then we finished erecting it in gusts of 40 knots. Once up John mentioned that he saw a light at the back and we may be lost something from there, initially NO. Then noticed top of inflateable danbuoy not on, further inspection revealed that had gone, taken by the solid lifering as they were fastened together. Hope Las Palmas has those to replace,
We are now in 6.5m seas with trysail and storm jib up. This combination a little slow upto 26-28 knots, only getting 2-3 knots boat speed, when wind around 35+ knots move along at 6-7 knots. Overall this combination is slowing us down and we shall be in it for at least another 24-36 hours. Inside boat not very pleasant as 95-100% humidity. Also we have extra water coming through variuos leaks and badly designed hatch.
Dinner this evening will plan on Chicken in white sauce with vegetables, baguette maybe if in calmer seas for 15 minutes (cooktime). Fruit will be pineapple rings.
