Day 3 - St Barts - Gustavia

Another sunny day in the Caribbean. We had our 2nd unofficial race today starting an hour earlier as wind forecast to drop. We did same pre race stuff as yesterday and tied our dinghy off on a buoy nearby that is not a mooring
one. Out to the start area wind moved right 40 degrees so a pin end start. Again we had a clear line as 1st to go in the pursuit race. The wind held up all the way up the beat although a little soft getting around the CoCo islands. Once around asymmetric
up and head north. We were overtaken about a mile from the finish by Emily of Cowes with her ginormous asymmetric. So we were 2nd again. After 2 rounds there are 3 of us leading on 4 points. No race tomorrow, lay day and unlikely to be one Friday
no wind. At end of race we all went into Ile Fourchue, La Petite Ile for the afternoon swimming and photos before all motoring back to Gustavia, wind on the nose at 3 knots. Talking with the other skippers of their boats it appears ours is quite dry compared the stories we heard. Couple of boats I also noticed had their windows taped up too, to keep water out. |
