No surprises at skippers briefing last night. The
welcome party was good as free beer to drink and I took a few with me as we will
not be back for the C600 prize giving and party as we will need to finish in
4days 6 hours. All route planning software gives about 5 days 12 hours as we
will be in no wind for at least a day and a half near Guadeloupe, all the
big boats will have finished by then so us slow boats are even
slower.
This morning we went to clean the bottom. On leaving the
dock our anchor picked up a line of a Sunsail yacht. We require dthe
assistance from Sunsail to release the line and push us sideways with a dinghy
as the line was down the length of the boat as their area for mooring 90 degrees
to ours. We dropped anchor in Freeman Bay and gave the bottom a rub, overall not
to bad, some little crustaceans neat the stern and prop covered in stuff. We
finished in about 30 minutes. We both need more practice doing it, last time out
we both could stay underwater longer, which we will need to do to replace the
anode on the prop that is looking quite bad.
At 1600 we are off to the Commodores Cocktail Party,
invitation only. Not sure why we got an invite, even more concerned about Dress
Code, we only have T-shirts and shorts.
Next update should be from the race, we start 1100 hrs
local.
