Dropped anchor ball, Sopers Hole 1030 this morning for trip to Jost van Dyke. Initially wanted to be in White Bay as the Soggy Dollar bar is there and the origin of the Painkiller cocktail. It was very crowded and all the balls were occupied. We did venture past the reef to see if we could anchor although quite exposed to the westerly wind, the bay went shallow very quickly and down to 10cm under the kep so aborted that idea. We could have anchored outside the reef but the waves made it look like it would be very rolly. Next bay investigated Great Harbour, again all balls occupied and was extremely crowded and the good bits to anchor in already occupied. Next option was Little Harbour a lot smaller than the other 2. We were looking around as balls were full again but looked like we had options to anchor. A motor boat called us to go over as they were leaving and said they had already paid for the ball so we now have one free night. Plan is to stay 2 nights here so will need
to pay
for tomorrow.
Before putting dinghy in the water, topped up fuel on outboard, lost jerry can cap over the side, John stripped quickly and retrieved it. John gone back in the water now to start the cleaning of the hull. Whilst underneath noticed we had a rope cought around the prop. That explains the vibration we had in reverse at Nanny Cay. Unable to untie rope so splicing scissors used to cut off. The rope is the sort fishermen use and had a handle on it. No more vibration hopefully and the 3rd thing to have caught on the boats appendages, lets hope that is the last as often people say things happen in 3's. By end of tommorrow hopefully have a clean bottom.
We hope one of the restuarants in the bay has wifi so we can confirm if we have got into Nanny Cay for the Sailing Festival and Regatta. No email confirmation or otherwise received this morning whe had wifi in Sopers Hole.
