And we’re off….finally the wind is beginning to fill in. We’re heading west between a broad reach/run on the main and spinnaker goose winged. We could just do with a few more knots of breeze to push us up to 6/7kts.
We finally feel like we’re in the trade winds, the scenery is the same but the beautiful Atlantic rollers, consistent down wind sailing in a westward direction is what makes us feel like our journey south is coming to an end. It’s amazing to think we’re still only half way but weirdly it feels like we’re almost there. For us, the hard bit is hopefully over, we are hopefully south of all the nasties, the boat is going well, the crew are in good spirits and we’re heading in the right direction.
This evening we got the cockpit table out and played cards….I could never have imagined us in conditions which would allow such a thing after the bashing up we’ve had and the weather we’ve seen.
Long live the wind!
