Position 36:49.26N 28:18.53E Marmaris Friday 31st August It is quite amazing how much the coastline can change in
such a short distance, the Turkish coast is green and lush in contrast to the
stark, bare rocks of Simi. We found it very strange approaching Yacht Marine Marina in
Marmaris as the last time we entered was June 2011 when Blue Magic had just
been off loaded from the ship which had transported her from Our Greek courtesy flag was lowered for the first time in
over 12 months and we hoisted our new Turkish flag. The marina is huge and bursting at the seams with yachts of
all shapes and sizes, we were squeezed into a berth on pontoon Alpha, as

bought in recently by the government at more expense. The card must be kept and
stamped every time you have your holding tanks pumped out at an allocated
station so that the Authorities can confirm that you are not discharging waste
into Turkish waters. An excellent scheme for the environment, however Marmaris
and several other places have run out of these cards, so they are not easily
attainable. I am sure this will not hold up as an excuse if the
authorities pay us a visit endorsing fines of up to 1000 Euros ! So we plan to pump our tanks in the marina before we leave
and carry the receipt as proof until we can track down a Blue Card. We now have around 9 days to travel along the |
