Monday 30th July 2012

A complete circuit of the Cyclades and back to Amorgos where we started in October 2011.

We sailed all 40 miles from Naxos on a beam reach with slightly strange winds that varied from 8 knots to 28 knots.

There was a very lumpy sea on our approach to Amorgos which sprayed my newly polished stainless steel with salt water again – argh !

The small island is alive and bustling this time around and we have moored in the centre of it all, stern to the quay opposite the cafes and restaurants in Katapola.

Not swarming with tourists but retaining a quiet charm, it is a lovely island.

Tuesday 31st July 2012

The wind is whistling through the rigging again, with forecasts of force 6-7 so we will stay here until Thursday when it is predicted to be a little more settled.

Last time we left Amorgos we recorded our highest ever wind speed of 55knots off the end of the Island and we watched a nearby yacht shred its mainsail, so we will pick our time to leave.
