Heroes!
Position 8:19.474N 78:59.399W Duco from yacht ‘Briet’ is our first hero, he
has located our electrical problem and ‘hot wired’ us so that
everything is working again. We have generator power and we have made water ! What a brilliant man, we repaid him in some small ways by
doing his laundry and delivering water and some fresh provisions to him before
he left for Galapagos this morning. Brian & Sheila from ‘Miss Tippy’ are our
next heroes… They came to dinner with David & Joe from ‘Roundabout’
and we had a great evening until it was time for our guests to take to their
dinghies. When we looked over the stern there were only 2 dinghies
where once there were three. Oh no, our dinghy had come free and disappeared. I am not one to apportion blame but let’s just say I
am glad it wasn’t me who tied it on ! We were so lucky to have Brian & Sheila on board, they
are so positive in an emergency and so willing to help. We upped anchor and headed out in the direction of the wind
and tide, it was a moonlit night and we spotted a white dot at the base of some
nearby rocks. Brian took charge of the situation and jumped into his
dinghy with Mark to investigate. The white spot was our Dinghy! Mark & Brian retrieved it by getting into the water and
pulling it off the rocks. Sheila & I kept ‘Blue Magic’ in deep water
and turned on the searchlight. Sheila was an angel and also did all the washing up whilst
the drama unfolded. Once the men were back on board, with both dinghies secured,
we returned to the anchorage and shared a night cap together. |
