We have moved on 35 miles near to Faro where we are anchored off Ilha da Culatra which is at the entrance to the rather shallow channel leading to Faro.

The island has around 3000 residents and reportedly has no roads or cars and it is only a few years since mains water and electric arrived there.

There is however shops and restaurants and a large ferry to Faro old town, so we shall take a trip on that tomorrow.

We had a cracking sail although we were hounded on the way by the Maritime Police and the Coastguard who each approached in high speed launches and radioed us for information about the crew.

After relaying names, nationality and passport numbers they went on their way.
