On route to Rangiroa

Position 14:45.95S 146:51.27W When we tried leaving today we found out the only
disadvantage of anchoring on a coral island. The anchor and chain get wrapped around big coral heads as
the boat swings making it impossible to pull up. Luckily some other rally boats had arrived today and Simon
put on his scuba tank to dive down and unwrap us. We retraced our entrance out of the pass, all a bit nerve wracking
again as the depth suddenly changes from 70 metres to 2 metres to 1.6 metres,
phew and then back to 16 metres and 30 metres and you are suddenly back into
open sea again with depths of 2 -3 thousand metres. Not a breath of wind so we are motoring, ETA 6.00am and we
hope to get into the pass around 10am, the same time as Bev & Martin will
be landing. |
