Night Watch & New Morning
Position 11:33.86N 77:54.37W After trying unsuccessfully to get a few hours sleep with
arms and legs spread eagled to keep from rolling off the bunk I came up to the
cockpit to take over from Mark for my night watch. I was faced with a huge mountain of water rising above the
stern of the boat whilst we lurched violently from side to side as we fell down
the waves. The wind had increased to around 35 knots, force 7 and we
were ploughing along at 7 knots with a tiny handkerchief of a sail out forward. A thought crossed my mind……. “ what the ##!!
am I doing here ?” And of course the answer is ‘living the dream’
and ‘enjoying the journey’. Hey, there would be no sense of achievement without some
challenges along the way ! With regards to culinary delights all I can say is that
bowls are the new plates and liquid salt is the new seasoning. It is morning now and the seas and winds are abating
slightly, Mark has just served up the best scrambled egg on toast that I have
ever tasted and all is well. We have one more night and expect to arrive tomorrow
