Maidens Lake

We anchored overnight at a lovely island called Daya Bunting
where we took the dinghy ashore for a swim in the Maiden’s lake, a large
fresh water lake inside the island.
Jaime and Carmen from Bionic and Hans and Monica from
Natibou joined us for sundowners. During the night the wind picked up in the anchorage to over
30 knots and it blew down on us from the top of the hills pushing us sideways
to our anchor. Mark checked things every hour and we both got up at 4.30am
to make sure all the cushions etc were secured. Around half an hour later Mark
got up again to find that we had dragged anchor for over ¾ mile – so it
was all hands on deck ! We motored back into the anchorage, had breakfast and were
glad to move on to another anchorage, with better holding, close to the Royal
Langkawi Yacht Club and the town of We stocked up with our Christmas duty frees in the town that
day and then met up with Susan & David from Enchantress and Maria and Steve
from Aspen in the evening for a nice meal at ‘Charlies’ in the
Royal Langkawi Yacht Club Marina where they were both berthed. |
