We weaved our way around the coral reef and picked up a buoy at 8.00am this morning just off the pier at Gilli Air, a small coral island close to Lombok.

There are three Gillis Islands and they all look very pretty with white sand beaches and colourful Indonesian boats dotted around the shoreline. There are no cars or motorcycles on the islands, just a few bicycles and a couple of horse drawn carts.

The water is very clear and the diving is reported to be excellent, with an array of reef fish and macro life such as seahorses and pipe fish and there are professional dive centres on each island.

We plan to have a days rest and maybe book up a dive as well as take a walk around the island and sample the local food.
