We arrived in Kos yesterday after a couple of days spent in some of the Dodecanese islands with our friends Anne & Pierre.  We were lucky (since often during this period in Greece there is either 30 + knots of meltemi or NO wind at all !) to have good winds (between 15 and 25 knots) for most of our trips (except one day where we unfortunately had to motor).

We went back to Simi - and anchored in “Pedi Bay” again which we now know well as it is the 3rd time that we have been in this  beautiful bay. With Anne we walked from the “old” Gialos” to the “new more touristic Gialos” and we loved looking at the different colourful houses ! Pierre and Roberto came to pick us up in the new Gialos.

We visited Tilos, a much less touristic island, yet very charming. Before departing for Nisiros, we did a little walk to view the village from atop - very beautiful !

We then went back to “Port Paloi” on Nisyros - which, contrary to the last time we were there were we could not enter this harbour as the depth was too small for our draught - and moored there. From there we were able to rent a car and show our friends its amazing dormant, yet active volcano, as well as the charming villages of Nikia and Mandraki - were we ate again in the excellent fish restaurant “EUSEA” - the way they prepare the fish is just incredible !!

On Kalymnos - we anchored in Myrties in front of a lovely small beach and enjoyed both swimming there and practicing Yoga - one of our friends’ daughter is a yoga teacher, so Anne and myself had a private course via zoom - what a treat :)

Given the weather forecast we decided to go into Leros’ marina (instead of anchoring outside the marina) situated in he bay of Lakki and which is the largest natural port in the eastern Mediterranean. This island is characterized by small hills and innumerable coves. Furthermore, unlike other Aegean islands where the main resource is Tourism, Leros relies to a large extent on the public services that exist on the island. From the harbour we took a taxi to visit Platanos and Agia Marina - were we found nice boutiques, yet were very brave since we did not buy anything :)

On our trip back to Kos - where our friends left us - we took a buoy in the bay of Palionissos on Kalymnos island and had a typical greek dinner in “Kalidonis” restaurant held by a charming man and his wife.

Pierre being an excellent cook - I should say “chef”, he created wonderful meals for us which were accompanied by good wines - so now we are on a diet :)

Also for the first time our ropes were always curled lovingly by Anne - see picture !
