Yesterday, after going about 30 miles north (half-sailing, half-motoring) - we arrived in the very typical and local harbour of Ekincik that is surrounded by mountains, olive trees, cotton fields and bulrushes. After doing a couple of errands in the very basic supermarket, we went for a nice swim from the beach were mostly local and Turkish people go.

The next day, we had booked a local boat which passed by Iztuzu beach - a long beach where endangered loggerhead turtle are protected and can be seen when the right time comes. In this period it is mating time for them, hence they are not so easy to spot - we did see one but that was because the boat driver spotted it for us !! We then went up a river to visit the ancient city of CAUNOS - one of the most important ancient site in Caria and Lycia. We were not disappointed and the environment and view from this ancient city is just magnificent ! From there you can view the impressive rock-cut tombs - the pigeonhole (for the ashes urns) and the temple bachata tombs where the bodies of important people and their families/relatives were deposed). We then had time to visit Dalyan. The city center is very touristic, yet some of the houses and hotels situated along the river seem to be very relaxing and charming ! We thought we needed, being in Turkey, to buy some fresh baklava and did find a bakery and MIAM, they were delicious !!!

The fact that the coast from Fethiye to here is un-constructed is really a miracle ! The nature is absolutely beautiful !
