For once, or maybe a couple of times more this year (since we are so often “running” to get somewhere and hence staying only night wherever we are), we decided to stay two nights in Skradin - such as to be able to spend a full day in "Krka National Park" and we did the right choice !

But to get to Skradin is already an amazing experience as you have to navigate (without sails up) a 15 kilometres gorge with fantastic rocks & vegetation and plenty of places where they grow and were you can buy mussels (which we of course did on our way back in order to welcome Paolo - Roberto’s brother and his wife Marina with a mussels dinner) & oysters before arriving in a romantic Mediterranean town - situated at the entrance to Krka National Park. The history of the place dates back two thousand years - hence the many archaeological sites in the area. A charming town worth visiting.

Krka National Park is a vast and unaltered natural park that includes 7 waterfalls, a 72.5 km long river, a rich birds and reptiles life. Its highlight is the travertine waterfalls - see picture. No boats are allowed so we had to take the “local” boat to get there and spent the day waking in this natural wonderland, including taking another smaller boat to visit the Franciscan Monastery on the island of Visovac (also called “Mother of God Island) - were currently 3 priests and 4 apprentice priests reside.
We ended the day by testing a typical dish called : “Peka” in a local restaurant - namely a type of “pot-au-feu” local, together of course with a very decent local red one !

In sum - if you sail in Croatia - a place NOT to be missed !!

And I must add a note here for Roberto - my love - and Knotty Girl captain who spends hours researching amazing places like this one. I should not take it for granted that every anchorage, mooring, berth we go to - Roberto selected with care and love. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH !!!
