After a good breakfast and a very reasonable start – 09:40 am, and following Roberto’s idea to explore the Chenal de l’île de Batz (between the île de Batz and Roscoff ) – a quite narrow passage with a lot of rocks that requires a fair amount of navigation preparation which Roberto delegated to Alastair (not sure why not me ? who was thrilled about it. Alastair took the opportunity to teach Julian who is preparing for the Yacht Master Offshore Certificate and a keen and quick learner. So during the Chenal, Roberto who of course was at the helm was following the precise instructions from Alastair who in the mean time would ask Julian tricky questions, including to spot things with the hand compass and Julia and me to spot the many marks on the water. It was fun even if gray and rainy – are we starting to get used to that weather ? Maybe… ! The sea is again very flat, little wind, so Alastair decided he is going to fish, and we are still waiting for it…. Just to ensure we might eat something tonight I took the hamburgers out of the freezer… !

We had a few tries putting the Genoa but these did not last long unfortunately. Yet miracle in the afternoon, the SUN came out and I even had a rest on the front deck in the SUN, hurray !!!!

Julian did such a good job listening to Alastair’s instructions that he was given by Roberto the task (assisted by Alastair) to prepare the entrance to Brest through the Chenal du Four, our final destination for today. As per Alistair and Roberto Julian did an EXCELLENT job, BRAVO to him !

10 minutes before arriving in the Marina du Château in Brest, we were called on the VHS by a Helicopter from the French army who asked us to move closer to shore as a Military Submarine was about to come out. It was quite impressive to see the submarine who was escorted by 3 boats, ribs and the helicopter !

Beautiful weather on arrival – first things as we have mainly an English crew, was to go out for guess what ? a beer

Yet our skipper, Roberto not to name him, did not find the piece of paper on which he wrote the code of the entrance to our berth, and while we were going out some kids mentioned to us that the portail always remains open, we all went out for that famous beer. Yet when we decided to come back to the boat for dinner, the portal was… closed !!! But Tanya, who did not wish to sleep in front of the portail quickly escalated it – 1.5 minutes chrono and opened the famous gate so we could have a nice dinner on the boat, being small and sportive helps sometimes J

Julia & Tanya super efficiently prepared the food for the passage. We are ready for it !

No dolphins seeing today though  – but where are they ???
