We picked up a non-sailor friend in Zakinthos on 25th September and slowly made our way up the Ionian islands till Corfu where we arrived on 1st of October.

Our friend wanted to experience cruising on a sailing boat and we believe she had the perfect week to do that. She was amazed to experience :
- Anchoring in the amazing Navagio bay or ship-wreck bay on Zakinthos - where we could soooo well see the stars at night as there was NO lights around yet were we were woken up in the morning by a totally unexpected swell !
- Anchoring in the very authentic fishing village of Vathy on Ithaca were she experienced Tanya doing the “watch dog” with other boats trying to anchor on our anchor !
- Helping with anchoring “amarres a terre” in Kioni on Ithaca and dining on a local Taverna with almost your “feet in the water"
- Mooring on a quay in N. Mongonisi in the Southern part of Paxos and from there take the dinghy to visit the very typical town of Gaios
- Motoring (sic) from Paxos to the Greek continent and anchoring in front of Syvota and from there taking our dinghy to visit amazing caves with all kind of blue waters
- Mooring in a harbour within the perimeter of a Venetian castle in Corfu !

She realised a couple of things coming on Knotty Girl such as :

- Snorkeling in all these beautiful places and realising there are VERY few fishes in the Mediterranean sea !!!
- A 55 feet sailing boat is not handled the same as a Laser :)
- Sometimes it is not possible to put the sails up as there is not enough wind - which unfortunately happened quite a lot on this trip :(
- There are many “hidden” places to store things and food in a sailing boat :)
- There are many rules to follow on a sailing boat :)
- Dolphins are not easy to be seen - yet just before arriving in Corfu we saw about 7 of them and big ones - a big show and a fantastic ending for our friend who was sooo longing to see them !
- Even if you think you do nothing on a boat, just being out in the open the whole day means by 8 pm you are very tired !
