133 Nautical Miles to go to
Flores in the Azores, we have done about 1700 and it will be good to stretch our
legs after 13 days at sea, and good to see something different for a few days.
We will stay there for the weekend and may have to wait til Monday to clear out,
and then about 10 days sailing to Ireland or Falmouth, depending on conditions.
Food and fuel are fine, down to our last tank of water, but have not fired up
the watermaker. We are getting along fine, albeit slowly, and we are STILL
eating tuna! Gilbert and James have had so much fun making their own lures and
fish alarms. James is studying Mandarin on his ipod and Gil is studying Spanish
on his, and both have been taking sextant sights daily. Everyone except the
skipper has cooked (or we might go hungry), as you can imagine with C's
victualling we are far from short of food.
We had a bet on about the 2nd day
on how long it would take us to get
to a line of longitude (which is about 40 miles off the Azores) and so far I
think Roland, Gil and Pat are out and
Oliver is out tonight so he's not
going to win...mwhahaha... I guessed 13 days, 13 hours, 13 minutes and 13
seconds from the moment we 'officially' left Bermuda which made the 24th at
07:34.13 I think and it looks as though we'll pass it around lunch time tomorrow
so I will be the WINNER! hehehe. My prize is 10 pounds from everyone but on
condition that I get the first round at the pub in Flores! That's
pretty much the most exciting news here
really.
