We made it over night to Yamba, as dawn came up, the wind did as well, but at a perfect angle so we pulled out the geni and off we went at 8 knots, taking off from our buddy boat from overnight “Twinkle”. We could see all the familiar land marks as we came along the coast, and many whales and Gijima seem to speed up sensing she was close to her new home port.
We came in through the break water no issue, and then negotiated the training wall in the river, used to guide this massive river, and within 100 meters of the slip, we could see it, we ran aground. Wouldn’t you know it I had cut a corner, not really sure of where to go, and we had 2 hours left on the rising tide so we lifted off after lunch and pulled into our slip.
We then settled down meeting people, and getting the boat and life sorted, unpacking things off the boat as need, taking toys off to the apartment as we will have a set of toys on the boat and a set at the apartment.
We have since then dealt with our first minor flood, and we joined the yacht club on their a cruise to one of towns up the river where we pulled into a pub.
It is a new life and place, but now we have a land base and boat local so we can explore the river and up down the coast.
