We arrived off the coats from Tenacatita (19:15.504N 104:51.0900W) at 6 am
too early to come in as it was dark, not good for new bay entrance, so after
circling for an hour we entered, with the hills forming a nice bay rising up
on the side, even more tropical. On dropping anchor we saw Endurance off to
our port side (they were with us back in Partida with two girls the same age
as Sean, it will be nice to catch up with them) and then I saw "Windward
Bound " just in front of us, this is a boat we have not seen in 3 years they
were friends Jim and Sue who came out each Christmas with us at Cat Harbor.
They road out a number of storms with us, and we use to do Christmas and new
years, we had not been in contact with them in a year, so this was a
pleasant surprise. They have spent the last 3 years in the Sea of Cortez,
for the summer as well, as touring this mainland coast, they are currently
going north again to Sea of Cortez for the summer. We then went to beach
with Endurance, and played and caught up, as they are going the same
direction so we looking to line up our plans so we can buddy boat a bit.
Tenacatita has a large yellow beach in the northern section, we pulled in
around the rocks in the row boat and entered a small river which entered the
jungle (we will do a run up the jungle river in the next day or so), we swam
keeping an eye out for crocodiles as they are in the water here and will be
in most of the locations going forward, adds another challenge. Next to us
the chopping was coming from palm trees and I looked up to see men scaling
the trees in free climb and cutting down the coconuts and branches, we will
pick up some of the coconuts tomorrow.
We are all tired fro La Cruz and last night so we napped this afternoon, I
woke to someone calling and it was Ethan, Nancy and Zada pulling in, these
are very old friends who left a year ago and have been cruising Mexico. One
of the reasons why we pushed to get here was to meet up with them as Zada is
a good friend of Sean's from Catalina Island, so we visited and caught up on
their travels. It will be nice to catch up with Endurance and Zada this week
and due to weather we will not look to leave for a week at the earliest.
We will use this time to work out a plan for the next 2 months going south
so we get into safety of Central America.
Stay tuned for us exploring here.
