I spent a couple of hours with another skipper who has a 50 foot old steel
powerboat on the dock, he has basically retired to Central America for the
last 10 years using Panama as his base working both pacific and Atlantic.
I was doing planning and reading about the islands, and capturing google
earth images of bays and islands, and Chuck walked up ordered a beer (it was
coming on happy hour).
We starting talking and exploring bays in the books and on google earth, he
pointed many places that are great, and others not so great. Answering so
many details, and ideas, I had, and confirming many things, this all helps,
we are going to continue tomorrow. He is planning a Galapagos visit so asked
and planned many ideas on that as well.
But it is the fun, excitement of strategizing and validating, and building a
number of optional plans that will take the dream and bring it into reality.
To do this with like minded people, and motivated is just such a good
feeling.
Like I did in Wonderware building strategies into plans and executing always
filled me with excitement and passion, and then pride at the achievement.
To often we defeatists in life, but the more and more I meet people, and
take on challengers, the more I will continue and always look at the
positive side of how to go forward.
Our plans are evolving, more people are back, and again we talking tides
when we can leave the estuary, weather, locations, and different immigration
procedures in different countries. Most of the boats are going through the
canal, there is only one talking of going over the Pacific.
But we all dream, build plans, and all know our plans must be fluid and
adaptive to deal with the day a to day changes and other good ideas, this is
not just in cruising but all our lives.
