We woke to rain again and both our partner boats had moved on so we were alone in the bay to the dismay of the boys. We finished breakfast before I ventured outside into rain to lift the anchor, I seem to have go my manual processes in good order and I am able to get the anchor up in a reasonable speed and low risk, I am still concerned about a couple of the anchorages next week where we may have rolly seas which will make raising it more difficult.
The trip back to Isla Cedros was very wet you could not see more than 1/2 mile in front as we moved between islands and ferries and much wood and logs from the rain coming down the rivers. We also found significant standing waves from the huge currents set up by the tide changes coming out of the big gulf.
As we came through the rain into the calm anchorage we knew from last week we saw Wahalie and Sunation already anchored. After settling I went around the boats and collected the weeks garbage and Maggie joined me and we dinghied over to ferry terminal (dock) about 4 miles away on the mainland to deposit the rubbish a much needed exercise. But the dinghy was full and we filled all the bins and found the people complaining that we had too much rubbish this was an issue but after some gentle talking we got away with it. We sat down at a small bar there and had a couple of beers the first in 10 days, and watched many people trying to get the approaching ferry.
The thing that has hit home in the last week here is the amount of garbage we seeing on the water and especially washed up on the beaches of the isolated islands we are visiting, it is really ugly and most of it is plastic bottles. Yes it is coming from the towns and villages up the rivers and washing down, but it is the worst we have seen anywhere, and this is in Costa Rica meant to be more western and environmental. Too often we do not think of what we doing with trash when on land, but when you see it all combine in one place it is 100s of bottles on some of the beaches.
Well the rain has be consistent all day not letting up at all but the barometer is rising and the forecasts say it should start to dry out tomorrow we will wait and see.
We need some sun to dry everything out, I am so thankful for the big cockpit we have it makes so much difference, and is usable in the wet along with the rest of the boat.
I think some of my blog posting have not gone through this week, unable to check until we get wireless sorry and will fix in the next couple of days.
