We have a powerful upper weather system sitting off the coast just north of
us, not much wind, but plenty of rain. Guatemala is coping it, and will for
the next 30 hours.
We have been overcast all day, with regular heavy showers rolling down the
estuary through the day, again just rain, but has kept many people in doors
today.
I checked on Dannie's boat (he is away and was the one who checked on our
boat while we were away), charged the batteries and sat reading books it is
a nice 36 foot Islander, good for 2 people.
The afternoon was with Sean doing education session on maths and Spanish he
is developing well. But this is one of the most rewarding activities to be
directly teaching him, working through exercises, working out systems
watching the "penny drop" and he grasps the ideas. We also get time to
discuss concepts in this case it was rain, condensation, so I borrow ice and
glasses from the bar to show the concept. But this time 1 on 1 has been the
best thing this year with the boys, I feel like they know me, and I them, I
was in the engine room this morning wiring an additional bilge pump (high
volume) and Sean was wanting to work with me, passing me tools, looking at
what I doing and then helping in the testing. In the Spanish sessions on
Rosetta he is just flying along, with great confidence.
When the other cruisers around us watch and interact with boys they all
comment in their experience the home schooled cruising kids have all been
way ahead of the norm, and can interact, and take responsibility, based on
this experience this year, I want to try to keep homeschooling up for the
next 6 to 8 years, so they have the foundation. Plus it makes sure they have
interaction time with us. We have Sean in Violin in the morning we will see
how that goes.
Hope all the roads are open tomorrow with all this rain, but my tanks are
full.
Stay tuned
