On a Thursday we have the major happy hour of the week where we get
discounted drinks and nibbles, usually all the fleet comes in for this.
Tonight people were talking about farewell parties, to the two initial long
term boats leaving which we are one, the other being "Sunsensation" (john
and Sharon) who we will probably dross paths with all the way to South Costa
Rica. Like when we left California you start to realize the time is close
when people start planning the parties, and a way to celebrate the end of
the summer and start of the up coming cruising season. After we leave you
will see a gradual leaving of boats over the next 6 weeks, often it is the
initial ones that get the momentum moving (how true in many things in life).
Will we be ready, my answer is are we ever ready, but we will go assuming
weather co-operates, if you don't it is just dragging out.
But better than I have ever been I will take things as they come, we are in
no rush and no risk attitude and keep the family happy. So the Google Earth
work combined with charts and guides and notes from many cruisers we have a
good understanding of where the calm anchorages will be and will target a
plan around these. But with flexibility built into the decisions that we can
take it day to day, or 2 days out.
I have started requesting the weather files, and looking at them getting
your mind into reading these dailly and understanding the weather on the
Carribean side that will effect us with "gap winds".
Many say this year is different in weather and we have a lot more Sun in
September so we need to understand as the usual weather conditions will
probably not apply.
Today we completed a lot of the small jobs (compoleting a very productive
week on the boat preperations), tomorrow we head to San Salvador for Violin
and night out, plus some new sites of San Salvador like the kids muesem.
