The sun was out early, and wind at 9 knots but the sea on the horizon as the
sun came over the edge of ocean, was still jagged and we saw a forecast that
said tomorrow will be more settled after a day of low wind the chop will
drop. So we got up and played games initially you can see Sean and I doing
Monopoly which is a morning exercise (good for maths). Then we went ashore
to the beach, after following the final race of the Americas Cup on the
web(Oracle won with an Aussie at helm), we hit the beach in the sun, low
wind, and clear water. Being Sunday we had to get soccer practice in, and
the boys passed and ran up down the beach their skill growing. It is nice to
see the passion and want to be a team between the two of them.
You could not ask for much of a better day, with the temp in the 80s (25c)
with water in the 70s and crystal clear, so Sean decided that he wanted to
build a fort, he has had a passion to be an architect for about a year,
building hotels, out block and lego, and these are not small, drawing on his
international experience of staying in hotels, so ideas from Vegas, Sydney,
Thailand, Palm Springs , South Africa. Makes for interesting structures with
pools , car parks and garden areas he will take you on a tour and talk about
the different aspects for hours. So today he wanted a fort hotel, and he
wanted it out of rock, so he drew out the design in the sand and then
employed me as builder / laborer to fetch sizable rocks and put in together
under his instruction. Two out houses with rock roofs and then a large hotel
with wooden roof, ( I found a an old crate side that saved me) and he built
walls between them, The exercise is good as he learnt about foundations, and
how to build spans and support roofs. You can see the photo of parts.
The "giggle Marlin" (which you can see photos of the thatched place and then
photos out from within) changed today, it was Sunday so many Mexican
families came to beach, guys motored biked from La Paz and we had some US
people, and it was consistently busy, and you cannot argue why not as it is
just a perfect layout and setting. Sean and I explored the coral around the
reef in all it's orange grandeur, good from the surface as well is in the
water.
So it is happy hour and I just winding up a nice day, we will raise the
dinghy and lash everything down for an early departure in the morning for
what should be 190 Nm passage about 30 to 32 hours, in a mixed see with I
hope not much chop from the NW and about 2 to 3 swell from SW at 16 seconds,
and 10 to 15 knots from W / Nw so it should push us a long, you will hear
during the passage.
But we have enjoyed our time at Los Muetros we have got to know locals, and
people who come here regularly, (Ed we even met the people building that
huge house on the headland, nice couple) and are well rested ready to
explore a town/ city then mainland.
Stay tuned.
