Yesterday was a day of travel arriving in Iguazu Falls as the sun went down,
multiple flights but it was nice to be back in the tropical jungle.
Today was a clear day at around 20 C so cool but nice, we headed for the
falls, Tracy and I are interested to see how these compare with Victoria
Falls in Africa, (at the end of the day they both spectacular in their own
way, about the same size, but different shapes). Argentina has done a good
job of doing walkways that take you out over the falls, below the falls and
along the edges, you certainly feel apart of them, and it is well laid out
better than Vic Falls, so in many ways the experience greater.
We started with a walk along the upper edge, and then went to the lower
walk, the views from the walk ways just left you breathless in wonder as the
falls snaked around in front of view, we spent 3 hours just walking and
viewing. Before getting on a large dinghy and we went up into the falls I
mean inside, water everywhere, Alex said more, Sean was not so happy. But we
spent 20 minutes running around the different falls in the powerful boat
giving us a different view, this was fun and gave us an upfront, underneath
view of the falls.
We finished off the day by catching the train to a walk way which enables
you to walk out over "Devils Throat" an arching huge section of waterfall,
with just unimaginable amount of water cascading/ thundering over the edge
and we standing on the edge on this amazing walk way. Honestly we went and
took photos and then went back to just take it in, you are really just
hanging over the falls. (see photos which again do not do justice). We went
back down the river in a rubber dinghy doing and ecological row down the
back water ways allowing the boys to see birds, crocs, turtles etc. A fall
and amazing day, we will be going back tomorrow.
Update on the boat in El Salvador all well, but Agatha (the tropical storm)
waters took it's toll on the marina docks we were in (before going to
mooring) they broke up two nights ago after 5 days of heavy water flows. All
the boats had to go an anchor. Will be interesting see what is back in place
when we go back in 6 weeks.
Having a ball well worth the trip to the falls (thanks Ed and Cari for
pushing)!! Admittedly it does not take much
