Sitting here as the evening light descends on us I am in the cockpit, we are the only boat here except for two old fishing boats on moorings sunk into the mangroves about 2 miles away. There are two locals fishing in a canoe off to port, not surprising as the sea has been boiling with fish all day.
The cloud cover has been constant today, but did not stop us going to a beach around the corner with a river after the school work, I walked to wilderness lodge up the end of the beach looks good but is closed due to off season suspect it may open by end of the week.
This afternoon I went ashore close to the boat to walk in to the surrounding area to see what is here, I landed and walked up between a plantation of banana trees, and found the main road. Walked 3 miles up to find a small school, couple of houses and a small store which was closed, but looked like it may have some stores if we need, But that was it to Richon, they do not say much about and I can understand why, but it is isolated and beautiful.
It is one of the nice things about finding a secluded anchorage, the place is ours, it is great for the family unit, we all have our activities and then we do many things together. We swim off the back, we shower off the back looking up into jungle, the boys were out on their swings again off the back coming down into the water. We had swallows and eagles all about as we played on the back of the boat.
In many ways this is what family boating is about the family unit, enjoying the time together all together, we are comfortable with it, and I am sure we closer because of it. So many people I have met who grew up boating and then moved away from it in adult life due to location state it was the best family times. I have no doubt that 2010 will be a year we all fondly look back on as a year of experiences. together. The boys have developed immensely and Tracy and I have matured and come to understand and enjoy the lifestyle while learning what we like and want to avoid as we move forward. One of the biggest items we have learnt is the ability to have a great life in simple terms, that you can live well, and travel and enjoy life and it is not as expensive and impossible as allot of people believe it is.
This all bolds well for the foundations for the future lifestyle.
Tonight Tracy and boys are making craft Christmas decorations, we will do a nature DVD tonight, again these evenings are times no doubt we will cherish in the future.
