The day was clear with broken cloud, and the family was feeling better so it
was time to get out and explore. We caught the number 10 bus (took some time
but we now have the local bus system worked) and headed around the lake. It
was calm, and sunny, the color of trees was golden and they reflected
against the water, we saw the odd sail boat at anchor, and the back drop was
the Andes mountains towering above all covered in snow. This is a big lake
with islands as you will see from the photos. The trip took us through the
lake side suburbs with their Austrian wood log houses and the many B & B and
lodges this would be an ideal place in summer and winter looking north over
the lake, yet only 24 km from the biggest snow fields in the Southern
Hemisphere, with a bus every 20 minutes if you did not want to drive, why
stay in a ski resort when you can stay on a lake side and bigger town.
We came out the other side still on the lake and entered the national park
which bordered close to the base of the mountains, which now rose sharply
above us to the heavens with their snow and rock jagged peaks, and the
majestic lakes below made up of islands. Our destination was a Dinosaur
Park, where they have a walk through the forest and life size dinosaur
statues from this region, set up like a zoo effect, it was surprisingly
effective and the boys loved it, for Tracy and I it was the trip out around
the lake and then the walk in the mountains that made it. On the way back we
decided to jump on a cable car and head to the top of a major mountain, to
get a good view (see photos) and the photos do not do it justice, there is
snow but usually by this time there is a lot more, but just the view across
the lakes to the mountain ranges on the other side was breath taking.
Tonight was simple dinner at local café we like, with a kids area and then
playing in the room, the boys need the familiarity. We have booked some
changes to our trip we leave here 3 days early and go to Iguazu Falls on the
Brazilian/ Argentina border, which are meant to like Victoria Falls in
Africa, and since we are here we should do them.
Again this points to the simplicity of our life now, we have limited
restrictions based upon discussions with a number of people we flexible to
change, and we discuss and then change based upon logistics, the more and
more I go through this year the more and more I am trying to clean things up
so life is so simple, it just makes it some more livable. When we return to
the real world we need to maintain this, we make things too complicated when
we can have a great lifestyle yet keep finances and reasonability's and
commitments to a realistic few that you need. But it takes leaving your life
style to see how complex we have made it, it was a warning I got before I
left, and certainly one I have learnt and built on, I am far more relaxed
and many more ideas and my mind is feeling like it freely running without
concerns, and worries.
Food for thought!!!
