I was up early today feeling a little better and went for 20 minute row,
which I do in the morning around a set of boats and against the current, but
it good for the upper body.
But on completion at 7 am I walked back on to the dock and there was a lot
activity people were up, and starting jobs. While most days you have 1 to 2
boats doing jobs, here we found most boats 9 boats all out and doing odd
jobs, it was a general hive of activity. I dived the zinc and changed the
zinc this was an achievement as it was the first one I have changed on this
boat through duck diving, but I must be getting fitter as I had plenty of
time and could easily do it. I now have 5 zincs of the correct size, a years
supply.
Then it was clean the bottoms of dinghies and get the power start on the big
dinghy working, we tried a plug back in La Paz but it did not work and
corroded very quickly, I need to look at new design, but we have an
arrangement which at least works.
One of the things about having a developing community we have all different
back grounds, so as you are doing something another comes over for a chat,
and discussion on their challenge, or idea. Like Vicky (the single handler
from Canada on a Han Christian) was discussing with me, and another guy on
lightening and both of us had similar discussion and ideas, and we have both
seen boats lately which have been hit, it is critical to have a clear
straight path to ground.
Another person was cleaning/ buffing the outside of the boat with mixed
results again 3 people joined in on their ideas it had to do with compounds.
Another one was having issues with their outboard (it only ran for a couple
of minutes) sure enough another cruiser came along with tools and took the
carburetor apart and cleaned it and got it back together, and sure enough it
worked.
One of the best things about boating is the community and help, and
interest, to often in a neighborhood in a suburb we loose this especially
today, when I grew up we knew everyone around us, and we all had interests
in what they were doing, on the dock we have all a common interest of
boating, but we are all away from home and can do with help.
Tracy had her birthday present from one of the boats which was a massage on
the trampoline which was nice and cool, she was relaxed and it was nice to
see here get the time, she is keeping up the morning fitness as well.
It is a nice cool evening (all relative) with a breeze, making it nice
evening to be outside, we have a boat leaving tomorrow "Shannon" they have
done a bit with us, but the owner has come back and they have to go through
Panama Canal May 9th then Florida by June, "what a rush".
I am starting to really relax and yet still statisfied.
