Today we woke to light rain, and the place was fresh, and cool.
But Alex had been sick most of the night, so we decided to take him to a
clinic locally we work with some locals who took Tracy and Alex, and he came
back at least holding things down which was a positive step forward.
We continued to close up the boat the final steps, loading dinghies on the
foredeck, and pickled the water maker (hope I got right) but it got a good
back flush as well. We have the family in the hotel for 2 nights and I can
now dry out the final part of the boat and decide of we can maintain power
with a couple of fans. I worked with two other cruisers and we moved the
boat down the estuary 2 miles to a mooring (3000 pound mooring) and secured
the boat, and left it tonight, tomorrow I will complete the final shut down,
and show a guy around.

Tonight I went over to the island for Jan's barbeque chicken(proceeds go to
the school) with the other cruisers. It was nice the food is fantastic juicy
barbeque chicken, under the thatch and the sound of water. Off in the
distance in the highlands and out to sea we had lightening, and cloud build
up but I doubt if there will be much rain tonight.
We had 2 new boats pull in today, one a trawler from the northwest but they
have been around, they had rowed a 20 foot boat around the northwest, they
have also rowed from Oslo in Norway to Russia, now they on a large trawler
and heading for Chile (they like cold climates). Very interesting dinner
companions and discussion with 3 other cruising boats all of us deciding
what we are doing.
1/ A cat is heading north after 5 years and selling and going land travel
2/ A 44 Pearson mono hull, similar to our boat, they have been out 6 years
just left Mexico, going to Panama and then will decide to either U turn and
go back to Northwest or go to Florida and sell and go back the Northwest.
3/ Trawler heading south to Chile but the heart is really in the northwest.
4/ Us which we heading to Australia question is how to get there, but
certainly we will go destination cruising in the western pacific.

The interesting thing down here is people are doing more than Mexico, and
they wanting to discover, but also have realistically thought through the
cruising to the other end. These nights sitting under the starts with flame
lights discussing plans, with sand in our toes and crabs running about, we
had a couple of beers and swapped ideas, and experiences all different, no
matter how long you have been out here we all learn.
Tomorrow we do our final clean up before heading south on the next adventure
to South America we will maintain the blog, we will be doing:
Chile
PATAGONIA channel by ferry 4 days
The Chile deep south
Chile lakes
Easter Island
Argentine
Peru
2 1/2 months.
Look forward to it.
