Up at 6 am and out of the boat and into town to catch the 7 to 7.30am ferry across the Gulf of Dulce to Puerto Jimenez this was an oversized panga with 30 + people, we arrived hoping to find a taxi which will take us on a 1 hour drive on a very wet pot holed road to the southern tip of Osa Peninsula to the  Encanta La Vida lodge. This use to a surfer’s lodge in the past and now is eco / surfer lodge deep in the jungle. Our room is high in the trees like a tree house, which the boys love. As I sat here this afternoon little spider money’s brown in color and tiny danced from the different trees to leaves on the banana  plants, often staring down at us in hope, and running when the boys coming out.

The birds are just amazing we saw the tucan just off the deck, in clear light, the colors of the beak are just so bright, (I have never seen one close in the wild before), Scarlet macaws  flex over head, and osprey glided above the trees. We went for a walk and swim down at the beach , 2 surfers were out, but just to walk along the beach with these birds about us, and more and the jungle over hanging the beach to provide shade. Yes this is what I will remember about Costa Rica the beaches with the jungle and bird life and animals all about in the wild, we saw it up north, in the middle and now here.

We are here for 5 days to explore and show the boys the bird life and animals of the central American jungle, it is not often you get the chance, and the Osa Peninsula is one of the best in the world. Maggie has come over with us for the 5 days, and Sharon and John of Sunsation flew back to the USA for 5 weeks.

As night falls the howling monkeys encho over the forest and birds and monkeys make calls and the sound of jungles play, as we look out into the darkness, we are the only ones here as it is low season, (which we got a good deal).

Stay tuned as explore walks tomorrow
