Sunsation did not leave yesterday, as we had a changing
weather pattern and a forecast for 20 + knots out side while that is not bad on
the surface, but this area with the gaps in the mountains it is well known for
acceleration winds, so if the prediction is 20 knots it is not unusual for the
winds around the point to be twice, and with that comes a steep chop.
Maggie and Bill on Wahalie arrived yesterday about 2 pm, and they
reported 35Knots as the came close to coast, so the decision was good.
They will leave today and we plan to leave tomorrow. We have
to round a well known rough point the run is only 40 miles and the plan is to
Yesterday was spent swimming around the boat with boys as
they have built up in confidence and now swim off the back of the boat well,
Alex spends hours in a swing that touches the water and just laughs away. I was
able to do two more dives on the bottom cleaning it so it is 90% done,
certainly a lot better than when we arrived.
The bay is just fantastic with hills rising around the bay
is an L shape from the entrance with the long arm running back into the hills
which to the north are green to Southwest are dry and grass land. Around the
water edge the green mangroves dominate, but quickly behind theses the trees of
the jungle over hang and rise up in a tangled web up the hills. Monkeys
scream from the trees along with the birds. Often we see whole schools of small
fish jumping out of the water, with dolphins chasing and frigates dive bombing
Last evening we hade John and Sharon from Sunsation and
Maggie and Bill from Wahalie over for a “pot luck” where everyone
brings drink and something to cook on the barbeque and share, it makes for a
big banquet and lots of wine and fun.
The winds were coming down in gusts of 20knots + for short
times so the boat swung around while we partied. But the stars started to clear
and shine through as they all departed for the evening.
Today is clear, still some gusts and Sunsation and
Cherrybowl left this morning, we will go tomorrow, but we went around the point
diving and it is not too rough out.
Now we have the bay to just 2 boats, and a set of dolphins.
