Another clear day a possible tropical storm brews on the western Atlantic and may bring rain in the next couple of days. But I started the day with my early morning row, up through the mangroves on a clear day, with the green from the trees glowing over the blue mirror like water, off to port is a huge volcano that is still active, with a constant stream of steam coming out of it. The birds wade and glide over me, and all sing, at the end of the row I rested and just drifted in the peace, and orchestra of the estuary, just so breath taking.
The morning was kept busy with violin and schooling, and I was checking on the dinghy repairs which look good, will complete tomorrow and take for a test run.
But "Sunsesation" and "Dolce Vete" (Danny's boat) were preparing to leave on the high tide, which they did with a slight wind, and mild sea. We will catch up with "Sunsenation" in the next week in Costa Rica, but we will not sea Danny again, as he has a schedule to keep to get through canal by Thanks Giving( a schedule he is now regretting). Danny has been a good friend he minded the boat while we were in South America, and we had many great afternoon beers and discussions through the summer, he will be missed. It was interesting to see the boys as they have built up relationships with Danny and Sharon etc, and they got on the aft of our boat and sang them off.
Then Mike and Dee from "Joss" who are heading north and have been here a couple of weeks, joined Sean and I for a surf. We walked through the dirt roads and swamp, getting eaten by swarms of mosquitoes as we went, (these were man eaters going through shirts), we then arrived at the beach section of the hotel. A lovely pool and a good surf. Sean and I went in and Sean rode many waves just keep surfing he loved it, how far he has come in a year, from the nervous start in Tenacattita to now get dumped 3 times and just getting up and going again, smiles from ear to ear. It was a great afternoon to be the only people on this beach, clear water in the 80s F(high 20sC) with the waves rolling in on the outer reefs, (there are some great surf spots here), what a place for Sean to learn to surf, I hope he remembers.
The gin and tonics where going down well as we looked out to the volcano and white cotton wool clouds it is developing off the peak. What is different here is that there are not many people, and the water is blue not brown, so the whole landscape looks fresh.
We are looking at the developing weather closely to see when we can go, probably Monday or Tuesday south, giving two days for kids to play, we will see with this tropical storm developing.

Stay tuned.
