Today I had maintenance on the main sail, boom and sliders, as I go around
everything on the boat lubrication and WD 40, this something you need to do
on the boats regularly but too many of us do not. But while I am here we
have had the stainless totally cleaned, boat waxed top and deck, and it is
looking like new. Now just going over all moving parts to make sure they are
lubricated and rust free.
After putting Sean up the mast initially and he decided he did not like , So
Tracy went up to the spreaders to fix the "lazy jacks" I then raised the
main sail while at the dock, to dry it out, and make sure mold has not
arrived. Certainly I found water, but also Bat remains, which meant that
Bats had made a home in the sails. Many of the other boats have had the same
issue, especially when on the moorings. So I had to hose and clean the sail
as it went up, then dry out, but it looked like the Bats had moved out,
probably when we moved the boat back here to the dock.
Sun Sensation (a cruising cat good friends) they are still on the mooring,
and they raised theirs as well, and found a family of Bats still inside,
asleep and curled up, so it took some time to coax them out, they even stuck
to sail as it went up.
The life of sailing in Central America, suspect some of the cruisers coming
back after 6 months will get a shock.
But our boat will leave here in better condition than when we left Newport
and lighter as we reducing toys, and food and things which we not using.
Well happy hour has arrived, it is holiday week here so the hotel is full,
plenty kids for Sean and Alex to play with.
Some of the cruisers are heading back to USA for a final fling up to October
so they are closing up their boat, we have another cruiser returning Sunday
with parts for us, to finish off some small jobs, before we leave to inland
to Antigua at the end of week for 10 days.

Stay tuned
