Today the sun was out, and we caught the train out of the Machu Picchu area,
which is really at the top end of the Amazon and is jungle with very steep
sides of a valley. As we came out and up the valley by train the valley
opened and jungle faded to a more arid landscape, I had not noticed the
transition as clearly on the way down probably due to the rain. But today it
was very clear and we opened up to the transition station at the top of the
Inca Trail, where we disembarked to a small van and bounced our way to the
town of Ollantaytambo. We had decided to stay here a couple of nights and
explore the ruins here and enjoy the town, we found a B & B situated on the
train station platform, it is well laid out and great service. With the
mountains rising steeply on either side and then looking down the valley you
see the rising mountains with snow on them, it makes for a levely setting
for a couple of days.

Stay tuned.
