Well the heat is on, mainly in the 30s (90s) with little breeze today, water
is 83 degrees. Humidity has also risen into the 70% so life is all about an
early day and then evening middle of the day you sleep, or stay cool, in our
case we went to beach and just sat in the water.
I suppose we have covered 400+ nM in the last week and this has effected the
weather. So as we look at the next leg 460nM to El Salvador in one hit, we
looking for 4 to 5 day window, one of the boats here has been waiting for 3
weeks. Our window is looking like it will be a Wednesday evening leave, it
looks open until thru the weekend, so we are all watching the weather
closely as two of the boats we leave with "India Summer" and "Sunday" tried
last week and 20 miles out got warned that door had closed and they had 18
hours so they turned around and came back, which proved to be a good move as
some boats coming the other way who kept going were beaten up badly, on
shredded their jib. So we are taking the conservative approach. While it
looks good we will monitor closely tomorrow and Tuesday, but our
preparations must start now, so tomorrow is Laundry, and fuel (which I have
to jerry jug in 5 gallon jugs so I am only going to do 50 Gallons to give me
a safety margin), the marina is so new that the Pemex station is still being
built will completed by end of the year. We also have to start formal exit
procedures from here with exporting the boat, immigration and customers this
is a full day and will start tomorrow and go through Tuesday.
We had a great day in the water the temperature perfect and since it was
Sunday we shared the small kids beach with some Mexican families with kids,
the boys and Tracy enjoyed being back in the water.
We explored the marina, it is going to be a top class marina it has concrete
docks and has two areas the marina and a set of side ties down an adjacent
channel (which is where we are half price no water or power) these docks are
for a resident development which is only just starting. The place is clean
and has a dry dock except the travel lift has not arrived but everything
else is completed and the facilities are clean and nice. There are a number
of boats who will be summering here "Wunderlust" been one.
We went back into town tonight explored around the back streets, the town is
well maintained with grass nature strips and houses/ building look fresh and
maintained different to the warn out Acapulco. We had dinner at an Italian
very good and well priced and nice to be outside. The boys played around and
again been Sunday we found again the families out in the squares and we
enjoyed some of the home made deserts. One of the things I like is the noise
of the starling birds where there are 100s in the trees around the squares
and at sunset they some out and the green tree tops are just alive with
noise of singing and activity.
So we hope tomorrow is cooler and we get some breeze.
Stay tuned.
