Onvoorstelbaar wat een mens in 4 dagen kan doen. Aan socializen: eten bij onze noorse vrienden, eten op de Snowdragon bij een dame uit Alaska en een dame uit Hawai, onze muppets Hermann de Duistser en Jan William de Noor al 2x gezien en koffie mee gedronken, met Sture bijgepraat... kledingkast een beetje bijgevuld, dus gewinkeld, uit eten geweest enz enz

 

Daarnaast een berg werk verricht, motoren na wat uren lucht eruit krijgen deden het, de generator doet het, alle navigatie apparatuur doet het, de kiel doet het.. allemaal fijn na zo'n koude winter.

 

Helaas toch 1 waterleiding geknapt, op het lastigste punt in het schip (onder de vloer, achter de kast, in de wand) maar Willem de knutselaar heeft het voor elkaar om deze leiding om te leggen (halve dag werk, wanden weg, leiding doorfrezen) waardoor het water het weer doet en boiler ook! dus stromend koud en warm water is toch wel erg fijn.

 

Zeilen zitten erop, gerepareerde cylinder van de giek zit erop en zo kunnen we nog even doorgaan. We hebben nog geslapen tussendoor al lijkt dat bijna onwaarschijnlijk want ook alle boodschappen zijn gedaan, de douane bezocht, de gasflessen gevuld...... Maar gelukkig is het nog een bende in het schip dus opruimen gaat nu beginnen. En, waarschijnlijk is de pomp van de verwarming stuk dus daar kunnen we morgen weer achteraan.

 

Na 4 dagen voelt het alsof we al weken weg zijn, volgens Willem worden Ingrid haar rimpels nu al minder.... hmpff.....

It is incredible wat a person can do in 4 days. Talking about socializing, we already had dinner with our Norwegian friends, had dinner on the Snowdragon, a ship owned by an Alaskan lady, sailing with a lady from Hawai, met our friends the old men from the muppets twice (Hermann the German and Jan William the Norwegian guy), caught up with Sture, shopped and bought some clothes, went out for dinner etc etc..

 

And, a lot of work had been done. After a couple of hours the engines finally decided to work, als all the air was out of the system, the generator works, all navigation equipment works, the keel hydraulics work; all good news after a cold winter.

 

Unfortunately one water pipe had been frozen in the winter and broke, and of course it was in the worst part of the ship possible. Behind the closet, in the wall and under the floor. Luckily Willem the handyman was able to locate the pipe, cut it out and reroute the water. After that the boiler was tested and works! Hurray! So, the Twinga has running cold and warm water again. Not bad if you go to Svalbard.

 

The sails have been hoisted and put back on, our repaired boom cilinder is back in place and so on and so on. It is hard to believe we actually slept in between of all this socializing and working as we also did all the shopping for food, bought new gas bottles and arranged the paper work with customs.

 

But luckily it is still an absolute mess aboard so cleaning up can start now. And, probably the pump of the heating is broken so that is also on the list for tomorrow.

 

After 4 days it feels as if we have been here for weeks, and Willem says Ingrid's wrinkels are already dissapearing...hmpff...
