Dat begint op te schieten. De reserveonderdelen voor de lier komen vandaag of morgen aan dus dan kan de lier weer gemaakt worden. Vanochtend samen met de havenmeester op pad geweest voor ankerketting of ankerlijn. Heerlijk om alle werkplaatsen in de omgeving af te struinen. Dus dat komt ook goed. Daarna koffie bij hem thuis gedronken en kennis gemaakt met zijn vrouw. De mensen zijn zo behulpzaam en hartelijk hier, ongelooflijk. Vanavond komen ze gezellig bij ons koffie of een borrel halen.

 

Ondertussen is hier een ander Nederlands schip binnengesleept vannacht door "onze" SAR boot. Deze mensen, met een 38 voets zeilboot, hebben een ongelooflijke hel van een nacht gehad. Het begon goed vertelden ze, maar ineens veranderde de wind en klapte hun zij-deur naar binnen. (Zij hebben geen losse ramen maar schuifdeuren aan weerskanten van de kajuit). Met de deur kwam uiteraard ook wind en water binnen, en heel triest, spoelde de, net 16 jaar geworden, kat naar buiten. De 2 honden aan boord konden gelukkig wel een veilig plekje vinden. Tot overmaat van ramp scheurde hun zeil en begaf hun motor het..... Dan ben je, zoals ze zelf zeiden, aan de goden overgeleverd. Ze waren zo'n 38 mijl uit de kust en zijn daar opgepikt door de "Peter Henry von Koss" SAR boot.

 

Met een ondergelopen boot, een beschadigde schouder (waar de deur tegenaanklapte) en verdriet om het verlies van hun kat, zijn zij blij dat ze uiteraard weer veilig aan wal liggen.

 

Wij hebben net weer opgevraagd en een nieuw schema gemaakt. Achterstand zal meevallen zo te zien, als de goede voorspellingen blijven.

We are starting to get somewhere. Today or tomorrow the spare parts of the winch will arrive so we can get the winch fixed. This morning we drove around with the harbour master for anchor chain or anchor line. So, also that will be arranged. And, after that we had coffee at his house and met his wife. The people here are so helpfull and friendly, unbelievable! Tonight they will come aboard for coffee or a drink with us.

 

In the meantime another Dutch 38 ft sailingboat has arrived in the harbour of Egersund. They were towed in last night by "our" SAR boat, the Peter Henry von Koss. They left Holland with good winds but after a while the wind changed, unpredictably, from direction and of strength. They got caught in the storm. During the storm their side door of the cabin was pushed inwards by water and wind. So, in came the water and the wind and the poor 16 year old cat was washed out. Luckily their 2 dogs found a safe corner to hide. About 38 miles off the coast of Norway the SAR boat picked them up.

 

To make the disaster complete, the sail tore to shreds and the engine stopped. As they told us, that is when you know that your life is in gods hands.

 

With a flooded boat, a damaged shoulder (where the door fell against) and sadness of the loss of the cat, they are so happy to be safe and sound tied to the kay.

 

We just looked at the weather predictions, which look good, and we made a new schedule. If the forecast stays as it is, we might not even loose so much time on our original plan.
