Noon 26th January

Event number 1. The tow generator came in. We have a unit rather like a car
alternator mounted at the stern and it is connected to a line 100 feet long
at the end of which is a small propeller.Towing this produces enough battery
charging to keep our batteries topped up but it does slow us down a little.
At 4 o'clock this morning the wind had dropped and we brought it in to help
use what little wind was available.

Event number 2. At first light as soon as the crew were awake we hoisted the
cruising shute to help with our speed - it increased from 3 or 4 knots to 4
or 5 knots.

Event number 3. The wind increased to 12-14 knots and we have been flying
ever since. Great sailing in sunshine with occasional showers that we have
successfully avoided so far.

Quite an eventful day for us as it also included a visit from a pod of
dolphins. Alas still no fish, but spirits are high and we have covered
another 124 miles, in spite of the slow night.
