Title: Mazara Sicily part 2

37:38.90N 12:35.01E

12.00 16th May

We had hoped to be getting the damaged genoa off to inspect the damage but
far from abating, the wind increased to 40+ knots. The crew were ashore,
oblivious to the wind in the shelter of the town. They reported a small town
but without much of interest or beauty.

Dinner on board as the wind dropped and in the morning it was flat calm. So
before breakfast we hauled Amy up the mast with a knife between her teeth to
untangle the mess. And what a mess. The strip the protects the sail from the
sun had disintegrated and two panels of the sail are split. On shore we
carefully folded it up and hope, courtesy of our shoreside support team to
organise a repair in Ibiza. Our small spare sail has been pressed into use
for the first time in a very long time.

So without the chance of a quick repair and with the weather looking much
improved, we set off for Marsala, our original destination, only 15 miles to
the north.
