On the approach to Formentera we slow down enough to arrive with the waning moon up in the sky to provide
some light. The wind was blowing at 15-20 kts from the west and, although completely exposed to the west wind, cala Savina
was the best choice for anchoring given the bottom of sand. Several boats were at anchor but was easy to find a spot further north from the town of Salina. After making sure that the anchor was well set we went to sleep for some rest but around 5am we woke up because the the wind had increased to 25-30 kts and so the wave. The bow was bouncing up and down giving strong pull to the chain. After increasing the length of the snubber and adjusting it for reducing chafing we went back to bed.
At sun rise the wind was still blowing hard but around 9am it started to decrease and so was the sea.
We then decided to go to the town of Salina with our dinghy.
On the way we saw a large sailboat (probably 50 feet) that it must have dragged her anchor and was laying on her side on the rocky shore. A zodiac rescue boat was already in the area trying to access the situation. In town, while doing paperwork for renting a scooter we learned that two boats had dragged their anchor and went ashore. The view of the sail boat on her side was very sad and increased even more the anxiety that I always have to leave Blue Note alone at anchor. However, Blue Note did not dragged during the night and the wind and sea was definitely decreasing. So we decided to continue our plan to explore Formentera by scooter.
At 3pm when we come back from our island trip, all was good with Blue Note and the sail boat have been salvaged since was not anymore on the shore.
Once back on Blue Note we raised the anchor and left Salina for a short trip to the beautiful Island to Espalmador where we had made reservation (mandatory) for a mooring.
