Blue Note is about to leave St. Thomas for the Azores.
We hope to make landfall in Horta, 2243 nautical miles  away.
but since we have already scheduled flight from Ponta del Gada we might
have to skip the "classic" landfall in Horta and the ritual beer at the famous Peter's Cafe Sport and instead sail straight  for Sao Miguel.
The forecast are for light winds for the next few days and possibly a period of no wind. In one hand this is good since it will ease our transition from "terra ferma" to sea.
On the other hand, it force us to address right away the challenge to balance speed and diesel consumption.

Lisa and Damien will join Blue Note for the  passage.
Both Lisa  (just graduated from the University of Tren in Canada) and Damien (with a France citizenship and a degree in aeronautical engineer)
are looking forward to a blue-water sailing adventure and some deep sea fishing. Blue Note is well stoked with Pinot Grigio so we are hopping for fair wind and many Mahi-Mahi.

If possible, I will try to post something on this blog around noon, Blue Note time, everyday.
You can also have a more detailed track (50 is the maximum number of point, i.e. once the last point reaches 50, the last point will always be 50) at:
