Departed Opua at 14:00 on 15/04/10 after loading up with duty free fuel. Saved about $350 so worth it!.

Ryan Hunt (my nephew) joined the ship on Wednesday afternoon in company with his brother Kelly. Kelly was to drive Ryan's car back to Auckland so Ryan can pick it up on his return from Sydney. Ryan, Kelly & I repaired to The Opua Sailing Club for pork belly and surprisingly, was well presented, well prepared and tasty. The locals wanted us to play darts, they were so insistent that we snuck away and sat on board for a pinot or two. Australian Customs is apparently very strict when is comes to booze allowances so the two boys helped me avoid an oversupply on arrival in Sydney! They weren't too good this morning.

Motor sailed until 08:00 this morning on a course of 292m, which is basically an extension of the course up the coast of NZ. Weatherman Bruce wanted us to keep going north to 33.30S as it will give us a better run to Sydney. We reached that point at 11:30 and are now heading 262m about 0 degrees above the proper course, however she is sailing to the wind and as it backs around, Princess will automatically come around as well. Wind about 13-14 knots, and the seas kindly.

Now why am I getting old? Only been off the yacht for 18 months and I have to keep reading the manuals on how to make things happen!! Bl***y awful.

Dinner last night courtesy of Avelyn Davidson (Ian's wife) and she is catering again tonight. Thanks' Avelyn it was fantastic.

Love to all
