We are currently midway between the Marquesas and the Tuamotus, which are a
series of low lying atolls stretching in a barrier 1000 miles across the sea
between the Marquesas and Tahiti. In years gone by it was the final resting
place of many a yacht as the charts are notoriously wrong and with GPS have
been proved to be up to 5nm inaccurate. Tonight about dusk we will be off a
tiny island called Tikei which will be our test of accuracy of our system
and then we have to slow down to around 5 knots so that we get to the pass
between 2 atolls by dawn Sunday and we can make sure that we know exactly
where they are. All good fun and makes the brain work a bit comparing old
paper charts with the new C-maps.

We are a week or so in the Tuamotus and then on to Tahiti.
