Last night was movie night at Sun Pictures, a famous outdoor theatre.
We took fish and chips and sneaked in some red wine – not allowed in public
places. We watched Red Dog, a kind of mini version of the Australia movie,
highly emotionally charged, about ginger coloured stray dog who changed the
lives of a Pilbara mining community. There were glorious, iconic views of
the brutal scenery, both natural and industrial. The town of Dampier has a
bronze statue honouring Red Dog.
We have got lazier as it has got hotter. I just watched 2 lizards
mating, very funny, the male had big smiley white lips and a black face, I had
to draw them.
We met 2 grey nomads in the pool, Delray and James, from Adelaide.
They have been in Broome for 18 months working in Woollies. Judging from
the number of caravans with gardens and satellite dishes, it looks as though a
lot of people make this choice.
Buying alcohol
There are very strict rules in the bottle shops, a guard on the door, and
notices that say “only one alcohol transaction per person per
day” |
