The favourable NE6 was forecast to fade and back around midday, so with 80 miles to make to Rodvig, we needed to make the most of it. So Aquila slipped out of Ronne at 0430 under tripple reefed main and staysail, giving us a romping sail for some 8 hours. During the skipper's watch we crossed the Bornholmsgut TSS: there seemed to be ships going everywhere. But we picked our way through the melee, and soon had the seas to ourselves again.
As the wind faded we shook the reefs out and unleashed the full genoa while continuing to fly the staysail, maintaining the boat speed above 7kts until 1300. Over another TSS, and by 1800 we were nosing into a very full Rodvig. But a Dutch barge welcomed us alongside - so different to yesterday!
We will probably stay here for two nights..but first: a much needed shower.
